2012: PCL Builds 2 New Water Fountain Areas on the Cleveland Greenway
PCL worked locally with our own City of Cleveland to build a state-of-the-art playground for the children in the community. The playground was completed in October of 2009 and is located on the Greenway beside the former First Tennessee Bank on Raider Drive.
PCL partners with Habitat for Humanity, along with other local organizations, to build homes for deserving families here in the U.S. Along with this partnership, PCL built a playground for Century Village where the new community homes are being built.
PCL raised over $140,000 for Hurricane Katrina Victims in New Orleans. Thanks to the partnership with the service organization, Alpha Gamma Chi of LeeUniversity and the local radio stations of Cleveland, TN and to all those who contributed!
On Tuesday, June 9, 2009, PCL dedicated a new covered driveway named in honor of the late Tyler Carver. Through a $25,000 donation provided by People for Care and Learning, a construction team from Men and Women of Action built the covered driveway that shelters community members from the elements. Bradley/Cleveland Services is a community-based agency that has served the needs of adults and children with developmental disabilities since 1973.
PCL supports local food banks to keep supplies available for local families during hard times. One of PCL’s missions is to care for the needy, especially during the hardest times during Holidays and the cold winter seasons. Donations to local food banks can aid in feeding thousands of men, women, boys and girls. Not only do we believe in teaching and offering education and micro-enterprise training and support but we also realize that there are times when the basic needs of humans is just to have food in their stomachs and a roof over their head.
PCL has been the official Nashville Music Marathon sponsor for students and faculty of Lee University since 2008. PCL also uses this event to raise awareness and funds for the needy. Dr. Garmon has personally ran this 1/2 marathon every year since 2004.
PCL Offers Internships to University Students
PCL partners with colleges and universities to provide Internships both abroad and in the local office and local areas. PCL is specifically partnering with Lee University’s Business Department to develop Integrated Farms in the rural villages of Cambodia. This project was launched in 2010. Also, students involved with Lee University’s Cross-Cultural Studies have completed 10 weeks of Internship in Cambodia since 2007. Many of Lee’s students have also served as counselors and aids in the annual Cambodia Youth Camps. PCL also partnered with Belmont University in bringing a Cultural Exchange Program in the performing arts to Cambodia. We are open to other Universities or group who would like to partner with PCL for care and learning opportunities.
