Boys from our Children's Home Rebuild a Widow's Hut

Brett Mayes and the Mission Team from Riverview COG in Michigan were in a remote village of Cambodia in July of 2008 and saw two needs that they wanted to address. One was a home of a widow with six children that was falling down. With the help of Sine, one of the house parents at the children's home, and several of the older boys from the home, the widow's hut has been rebuilt and stands as a wonderful testimony to the love and compassion of others. We are so proud of our boys for their hard work!

Man Needs Your Help to Pay for Much Needed Surgery

Photo of Man with Large Facial Tumor

The Michigan Team's heart was also broken when they saw this man, named Anyu, in the same village who desperately needs surgery to remove this immense tumor on his face.  Julie and her team met with Anyu and has purchased him some clothes and toiletries as he was without a home or any personal belongings.  They also took him to the capitol city of Phnom Penh to meet with a surgeon this week. It is hard to imagine what this man's life has been like.  We would love to have a good report that the funds were raised to cover the cost of his surgery.  If you could help, please send your donation to the address below or you can make a credit card payment over the phone by calling the office at 423-478-7071.

Note from Julie:
Anyu is back from Phnom Penh.  He Children from the Garbage Dumpcame back last night.  He met with Dr. Sarom who took his medical history and they had a scan done of his tumor.  I cannot tell you the prognosis yet, because Dr. Sarom is supposed to get back with us later.  What I can tell you is that Anyu came back different then he left.  There was hope in his eyes--he wasn't embarrassed to talk with me.  In fact, he even joked with me yesterday.  He looked me in the eye and held prolonged eye contact.  I may not be able to adquately put it into words--but there was a difference--and the difference was hope--and the difference was him knowing that people cared.  May the Lord bless you greatly for what you are doing in his life.  I was reminded of the story in Mark 1:40 about the leper and how Jesus healed him through His words, but then He also touched him.  Jesus touches the untouchables and we are to do the same and in Anyu's life it is being done.

Thank you.   Blessings,   Julie

**UPDATE**
We have just learned minutes before sending this email that the surgery cannot be performed in Cambodia.  We are looking for a doctor here in the states that is willing to help this man.  Please pass this on to all of your contacts and pray that a doctor will be found. We will keep you updated on this story.
